Fight or flight response
Thanks for the replies! Its nice to know that I'm not the only one lol. I do agree that working in the mall, especially out in the open in a kiosk, is super difficult because of all the energies I'm confronted with on the daily. I'm also the assistant manager so I usually end up being the guy who deals with most of the customers, mall management and our area managers. Its a stressful situation to begin with and my not being able to bridge the gap between normal and an extreme stress response makes me afraid that I'll lose it on someone and I also worry that its going to make me sick. Breathing is an good focus point for me because as soon as I get angry I lose track of all that and I will definitely try that visualization technique. I'm really tired of this reaction and at the end of the day its super embarrassing to not be able to maintain composure over a 15yr old kid stealing a handful of gummy worms.
