Sometimes we encounter people who are cruel to us and it can be hard to shake the feeling. It is hard to not be angry with a person who is angry and mean with you. I have been trying lately to show kindness to others who can be mean to me. Something that has helped me tremendously with this is to do a guided love meditation and focus love on the person who hasn't shown it to me. This allows me to let go of my negative feelings towards the person and instead feel love and hope for them. Has anyone else ever done this?

I've never heard of tonglen so that's something I'll have to look into. I don't usually focus on feeling their pain. I take more of the approach of just loving them and hoping whatever is cause them such suffering can be resolved within themselves.
