Hi

This topic is about the benefits of daily self massage points for yourself and those whom you care for.  Taking a few moments in the morning and evening is a great way to begin and end your day, revitalize and recharge your body and spirit, and is an excellent way to pamper yourself.  As empaths and Lightworkers we always seem to put the benefit of others before ourselves.  It is important to take care of ourselves first so that we can then be in top shape to help others.  Taking a few minutes to do this will not only make you feel great, but will also help to simulate vital organs in your body and remove toxins.

Foot Massage

Foot Massage Chart.jpg

The first chart is for the feet. I use an alcohol gel on my lower legs and feet which also reduces swelling while stimulating these vital nerve points.

There are a thousand nerve endings on human legs. Pressing specific points located on the feet will help you, not only to relax, but also to stimulate the whole body in an effort to function properly.

Thanks to the miracle-foot massage, you will be able to influence various organs and systems of the body. Please take a few minutes for yourself, massage your feet with your big finger and index finger. The procedure is interesting and will bring you into a state of bliss.

Parts of our feet which are inextricably linked with the organs of our body:

By massaging the big toe, you can act on the hypothalamus. This is very useful for people who have weight issues. Pressing this point can help in appetite control, and contributes to natural weight loss.

In the center of your large thumb there is a point that is responsible for the work of the pituitary gland – the main hormone glands. Do not be afraid of hormone imbalance, if you pay sufficient attention to this point.

In the base of the big toe there is an area that is equivalent to a massage of the thyroid gland! In cases of constant stress, the thyroid gland operates even in completely healthy people. Massaging this area is useful to everyone.

Massaging the foot center is particularly pleasant – the tangle of nerves is connected with the diaphragm. This is true relaxation and enjoyment! Active engagement in the middle of the foot helps to relieve stress and tension.

In the inner edges of the feet, closer to the center, there are nerve endings that are associated with the work of the adrenal gland. If you feel constant fatigue, massage this point in order to regain the lost energy quickly.

By massaging in the area closer to the heel,  you activate the excretory system – the toxins will not stay long in your body, poisoning it.

Give yourself a gift at the end of a long day, and massage your feet. The result will inspire you to repeat this pleasant procedure on a daily basis.

Did you know that when you have pain in the spine you can reduce it by massaging your feet?

There is another spot that on your feet that will benefit back pain.  According to a study conducted by the Iranian Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Research, nurses that suffered from back pain benefited greatly from being massaged.

During the study, 50 female and male nurses who claimed that they were suffering from chronic lower back pain went through 40 minute sessions of massage three times a week for two weeks. Half of the group went through reflexology massages, which targeted specific parts of the body associated with back pain, and the other group went through general massages.

At the end of the trial , participants who went through reflexology massage reported a higher amount of lower back pain reduction than the general massage group. However, both groups reported a significant reduction in lower back pain.

This study proves that any type of massage can help reduce lower back pain, but massages targeting specific parts of the body associated with lower back pain results in a much higher reduction of pain.

Feet and Back Pain

Posture and foot health has been proven to be associated with back pain.

The edge of the feet have pain-points associated with pain in the back and, when massaging them, it is very possible to cause this pain and stiffness in the spine disappear. You can massage them yourself or have someone else massage them for you, both methods are equally as effective.

You will notice the results after the first massage. The massage is pleasant and healthy. Dedicate at least 10-20 minutes out of 2-3 days a week towards massaging your feet.

How it is done:

Sit down on the floor in a cross-legged position and take one foot in your hand.

The line between your big toe and your heel is what represents your spine.

Separate the line in your head into the different sections of the spine (coccyx, sacrum, lumbar, thoracic and cervical) .

Gently massage this line from the front to the back of your toe. By applying pressure to these points you will be directly effecting your spine.

Longevity Spot

This next section is about a point on your leg just below the knee that is a real power point.

There’s a Japanese legend that says that once upon a time there was a man who inherited a very valuable knowledge from his father – about Zu San Li, “the point of longevity” or “the point of a hundred diseases”.

Following his father’s advice, this man massaged this point everyday and lived to see the births and deaths of several emperors. Massaging this point is one of the oldest methods of treatments in the East, which has been practiced for several thousand years. The human body has 365 points and 12 major meridians, which is reminiscent of the amount of days and months in a year.

The technique for this massage (acupressure, finger pressure on specific points) is based on the teachings of the meridians and channels that are associated with certain organs. In Chinese medicine, the body is seen as an energy system, and a massage can affect the energy flow and the functional activity of the organs.

Activating the point Zu San Li will give you a rejuvenating and healing effect and will prevent aging. In China, this point is known as – “a point of longevity”, and in Japan – “a point of hundred diseases”. On our bodies, Zu San Li is located right beneath the kneecap.

To find it, cover the knee with the palm of the same hand. The point is located between the nails of the little and ring finger, in a form of a small dent between the bones. If you can’t find it this way, try sitting on the floor with your feet firmly pressed to the floor. Pull them toward you, without raising your feet off of the floor. You will notice a higher area below the knee – put your finger on it and take a starting position. The point you pressed with your finger is Zu San Li.

What is this point connected to and why do the Japanese call it “the point of a hundred diseases”?

Zu San Li controls the work of the organs that are located in the lower half of the body. It controls the functions of the spinal cord in the parts that are responsible for proper functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, digestive tract, sexual organs, kidneys, adrenal glands. By massaging Zu San Li, you will increase the activity of the adrenal glands, which are the most powerful glands that act as the main protectors of human health.

They excrete adrenaline, hydrocortisone and other important hormones into the blood. If you massage the “point of longevity” on a daily basis, you could normalize the functions of the adrenal glands in the body, which are:

  • normalization of blood pressure;
  • normalization of glucose, insulin levels;
  • suppression of inflammatorily processes in the body;
  • regulation of the immune system.

Other benefits from massaging Zu San Li are:

  • improved digestion;
  • treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • treating the consequences of a stroke;
  • gaining confidence;
  • overcoming stress and tension; and
  • inner stability.

It is considered that by massaging this point, a person can cure impotence, hiccups, constipation, gastritis, and urinary incontinence. It is also believed that this massage will improve the immune system, and that the person will become fit and healthy for life.

This massage is best when done in the morning, before lunch. Massage each leg nine times in a circular motion in a clockwise direction, for about 10 minutes. Before you start, make yourself comfortable and relaxed. Calm your breathing and concentrate on your feelings. Do the massage in a seated position.

Immerse yourself in a state of harmony and let your healing process begin. This massage has a stimulating effect. You can massage yourself with your fingers or with any type of grain cereals (buckwheat, oats, rice, etc.)

They say that if a person performs the massage in the evening, they will lose 400 – 500 grams per week.

Be careful not to perform the massage right before going to bed because it may cause insomnia.

You can massage the Zu San Li point every day, but it is especially beneficial if you massage it during the New Moon.

– Be sure to massage this point in the morning, eight days after the start of the New Moon, as described above. It will strengthen your immunity, improve the work of the organs and slow down the aging process.

– Massaging the point before lunch will improve your memory, the work of your cardiovascular and digestive system.

– You can massage both legs simultaneously after lunch to relieve stress, nervousness, irritability, headaches and sleep disorders.

– In the evening, massage your legs separately in a counterclockwise direction. This will improve your metabolism and help you with weight loss.

Stress Relief

In a TV show about healthy living, Mark Sandomirsky, a doctor of medical science and psychiatrist, advises his patients to relieve stress using a simple technique.

The causes and effects of stress often vary, and people experience it in many different ways. After being stressed, we are left with an uncomfortable feeling of heaviness or pain in certain parts of the body.

The first thing you should do is get rid of all destructive emotions. Do not keep them in. Then, remove the physical effects. Psycho-reflexology helps a lot. The fact is, our bodies have natural anti-stress points.

Ancient Chinese culture called this point Shen Men or “The Gate of Heaven”. Treating this area brings celestial energy to your whole body. Shen Men is a deep, miraculous point that strengthens your overall health, decreases stress, and boosts energy.

This acupressure point also suppresses inflammation and addiction, and massaging it relieves pain in every part of your body. Shen men or the Gate of Heaven is located in the center of the upper third part of your ear.

Dr Sandomirsky advices:

  • Using a cotton bud, press this point and gently massage it. Breathe deeply.
  • Then listen to your body carefully.
  • Keep breathing deeply.
  • When you inhale look to the left, and on the exhale look to the right.
  • You will feel how your body calms down.

Extra tips:

  • Massage this point using your fingers.
  • Massage it well every time you are stressed.
  • You can also repeat this technique every night before you go to bed

I hope that this topic will improve your health and happiness.

Throw some love into the wind.

Great post Bing!

Recently I have been having intense pain in parts of my body. After some research and experimentation, I concluded that foot massage is nothing short of magical for pain release. I have also tried the ear point for releasing stress. I find that it is very much like a stress release valve. Massage or rubbing with stones releases stress and heaviness amazingly fast.

The Zu San Li spot sounds quite interesting and I'm looking forward to try that one out.

Thanks for the great post Bing.
