I think being an empath is so helpful when doing reiki treatments. Have any here practice it? Or use their empathic abilities during practice.?

I'm taking an online class in Reiki 1.  Not any available in my area in person.  From what little I know and have experienced - they work together pretty well.  So far, I've only given myself and my daughter treatments - so I'm no pro :).  Let me know how it goes :)

Much peace,

Rhonda

I've been practicing for about 3 years time now and I have up to level 3 (master). I do think its a good match for empaths to do. I have learned lots about energy usage that way. Good for you and your daughter.

I think goodenergyhealing does Reiki. I think it sounds fabulous!

In my own experience, my healing energies have to come out of me organically and if I try to insert ego or formal education into it, it goes away. Any healing I've done has been as a biproduct of touching with desire to comfort or show compassion or draw out another's suffering. This doesn't mean that others can't benefit from learning Reiki---- It's probably very personal. For me when I focus on an oucome or result, my ego gets vested (I "want it" to happen or I "fear" embarrassment if it doesn't or I get "freaked out" because it feels like the occult) on the other hand I have had many occassions where people reported a healing either when I spoke with them or touched them or prayed with them. Not sure what a healing is really, the reduction in the experience of pain and suffering is how I define it. Other people have characertized it as a "healing" or "amazing" touch. I touched a man a few days ago, who literally recoiled from my touch.... I was already having a few doubts about his energy (dark and cunning) and when I touched (just on the elbow) he literally acted like it burned him.... ha ha ... how odd. I think it actually did in a spritual sense. and eve now, I ask the Divine for humility as I relay this story and my account of touching others.... I am so not worthy of these gifts in any sort of "merit" sense and yet I find that I have these special qualities. So glad you are all here to share in the experience (a different construct) that interprets our experiences as people who experience others deeply.

Jen, I feel the same as you. It seems that whenever I try to use my empathy with intent, it doesn't work or help anyone. For me it only seems to work subconsciously when I don't have specific intent. Perhaps this is just something I need to learn to do.

Paul, I live in a large city and Reiki has become so trendy that every day spa now seems to advertise Reiki services. I can't imagine that many places do it well. I tried it about 6 months ago and my body didn't really feel anything during the treatment. I mostly just relaxed, saw some vivid colors, and then fell asleep. It seemed to me that meditating on my own was more beneficial than that Reiki session.  If done correctly by an experienced Reiki master, what can I expect to benefit or experience during the session?

Its different for everyone. When done properly reiki energies go where needed. Its rather intuitive and intelligent. I mainly ask for permission to touch a person.

i begun a massage course a while ago but didn't complete, (i have a feeling i will return and complete) however the feedback was - its that other stuff you are doing... Ive had this from others when I'm close by or cleaning their energy field etc that they are actually feeling it without me mentioning that i am doing it. i have an issue with actual reiki training in that i don't see the need to "pay" someone else to give me a piece of paper and somehow "activate" my energy... it seems very much commercialism of an ancient practice to me and who is to say who gets to pass on that acknowledgement of power. I know in my culture it is very much a given that some have it and some don't and that is ok, I also know that if i had've had the contact with elders in my family before they passed that this would've been passed to me (among others).....its a sore point for me! also, I've had reiki done by those who have paid and are 'activated" and felt nothing as opposed to those who are not necessarily activated by mainstream and yet felt so so much more!

In reiki circles the pay issue is hotly debated. I was initiated on a $650 Intensive Training and was offered to me at no charge. I continue that practice. When I do practice is for free and I can and have treated 15-30 a month during reiki circles. In the old days, initiation would cost $10k and a year's time of fees to the teacher (Mrs Takata). That was done to ensure it would survive and the teacher could continue teaching full time. Orientals have a different view on this than the West and this is the Wild West ;). I do not agree with that premise at all and neither do the energies in me. This is a different time. I think it should be available to all who wish it. I can teach it but haven't. I wrote 3 manuals of instruction for all 3 levels. My type is called Raku Rei or Fire Dragon Method from Tibet. There are many flavors, each just as effective. But I guess that is where the dragon in me comes from ;)

Spiritual Healer and Reiki Master here. But those are just labels - any energy work we do (with a healing intend), is healing work. I find it is mainly about consciously attuning to a higher source of (benevolent) energy. That connection/ support then makes things potentially more intense, and helps in many other ways... There is a Group on here too for Mediums, Psychics and Healers :))

Awesome, that is why reiki works. You are already a healer! We need more healers in this planet.
