Know Thyself was inscribed over the entrance of Delphi for a reason. Simply, its important to understand who you are and what your weaknesses are before you venture into the other realms. If you dont, youll soon learn! The most important thing to remember is that you dont know everything, and to forgive yourself when you trip over a weakness that you didnt realize before was there.

This, the final segment of the workshop, is something that I present for your consideration. Im a younger person I was born in 1976 and I feel like I still have so much to learn about how to deal with people in a mature, helpful way. I was raised in a severely dysfunctional householdin whichemotions were twisted and warped, andpeople dealt with their frustrations by yelling and hitting, or through passive-aggressive manipulation. After that, I entered a culturefilled withpeople dealt with their emotions through the numbness of drug addiction. And then I became a parent, and I realized that almost all of what I had experienced of relationships to that point was so, so very wrong. Im slowly learning how to be a normal, functional human being, but I still have a way to go. A long way.

I found that when I started to do readings, the work itself and the feedback that I got from folks for which Id done readings sometimes pushed certain buttons for me. My intent with this blog entry is to describe some of the things that Ive encountered along this great journey, so that you might see them coming and be prepared to deal with them in a better way than I did!

When the Feedback is Positive

Positivity Addiction

Although Id always been a massive over-achiever, Id never had much positive feedback in my life. When I did readings, I was amazed at the level of positive feedback. To be honest and blunt, I started to crave it. I started to do readings for the wrong reasons. There was a short period of time in which I realized afterward that I had been doing readings primarily because the feedback I got helped me to feel good about myself, and feeling like I was worthwhile in some way was something of an irresistible drug for me. I needed the readings too much, and I started to make mistakes. It took a really unpleasant mistake for me to wake up and see what I had been doing.

Unwarranted Positivity

It doesnt come up a lot, but sometimes youll do a reading for someone that is so tuned out from their own lives that they cant really tell you whether what youve told them is accurate or not. Sometimes, in these cases, this person will compensate with such over-the-top praise that its easy to believe that you hit the reading on the head. It doesnt at all mean that you did, however. Youll probably recognize these cases, but knowing that theyre out there may help. It can be a little unbelievable the first couple of times.

Honest Positivity

When youve done a good reading and your readee is self-aware enough to recognize it, youll receive heartfelt thanks. Most often, his/her response will be quite long, and will tell you some of the background story related to the topics that you hit upon in your reading. Often, the readee will be confused about one thing or another, or may want additional information or clarification on something. This is a sign that you probably did a great job. After you give yourself a hearty pat on the back, learn from the types of questions youre being asked, so that you can be better with your next reading.

When the Feedback is Negative

Disinterested Correction

There are two basic types of negative feedback that Ive noticed with my readings. The first is something along the line of, Eh, I dont think that sounds like me. In this type of feedback, the readee does not seem combative or upset. It would be the same reaction that you would expect to receive if you told someone that they have green hair and pink skin, and that there are only three days of the week. When something is blatantly untrue, there is no emotionality to the response. If you receive this type of feedback, I recommend giving it another try.

Angry Rebuttal

For whatever reason, there was a period of time in which I tended to choose the abandoned readings in the reading group, the readings that had been left unanswered for a period of time, even though others around them had been answered. It didnt take long to figure out the pattern the readings that went unanswered were generally the ones that were the toughest to deliver in a diplomatic fashion.

It will come as no surprise to you when I tell you that people often ask the same questions of the universe over and over and over, trying to get the answer that they want to hear. Often, the more people ask the same questions, the more blunt the response from the universe becomes. Sometimes the answer can even change to something false, something that will make them angry, to get them to stop asking and to take personal responsibility for their issue.

The feedback that you will get from your readee in these cases is usually laced with anger. It can take many forms, but anger is the common thread: anger with disappointment, anger with suspicion, anger with disbelief, anger with more anger, and you get the idea. When this happens, it can be helpful to have a handy checklist of reality-check questions ready. As an example, I might suggest:

  1. Why is this person so angry? Is he/she angry at me, or at the information in the reading?
  2. If she/he is angry at me, what did I do to provoke the anger? Is it warranted? Was my delivery of the information cold or judgmental? Did I deliver bad news without offering any way forward, any possible ways to go about making the situation better?
  3. If he/she is angry at the information in the reading, what could I have done to make the information easier to accept? Could I have chosen softer words? Could I have focused more on the positive aspects? Could I have offered some examples of times when I or others have gone through the same thing and been happy afterward?

And so on. You may be tempted to apologize for making the readee upset. I encourage you to not do that, unless you really did make a major mistake. A good alternative would be to reflect their pain back to them, like, Yes, I can tell that this upsets you. It would upset anyone in the same situation. I hope that the information here will help you to find the way forward, once youve had a chance to absorb it all. Another alternative is to admit that you are just one person, seeing a tiny part of the situation, and that although this is what you did see, you certainly dont want to say that its The Truth.

The Second Opinion

When you first encounter negative feedback, it can cause a major crisis of confidence, which can result in you wanting to give up and not do readings anymore. Please keep at it! As a last resort, a back-up alternative when you feel like you may have majorly flubbed a reading is to ask another psychic person you trust to give you a second opinion. Not all psychics are willing to act in that capacity because it violates most psychics ethics to do a reading on someone that hasnt specifically asked them for a reading, so it can be a little tricky to ask. You might be able to avoid ethical dilemmas if you ask your trusted psychic to do a reading on your reading, instead of asking for a second-opinion reading on the person you read.

A Big Thank You

To all of you that have followed this workshop to the end, thank you! I have appreciated all of your feedback and participation along the way. I expect to continue adding to the workshop as things come up, but Id say its complete in its current form. If you have any topic that I didnt address that youd like to see included, please let me know in the comments below.

This is a meditation that one of my spirit helpers taught to me, and I thought that I'd share it with you. It's simple, but powerful. But first, let's talk about what soul agreements are. I enjoyed reading Anna's description on her blog, so I'm just going to reproduce it here for you:

Soul-level Agreements and Appointments

Before we incarnate, we make appointments and agreements with certain souls. Usually we pick out the souls with whom well have important relationships both short-lived ones and long-term ones.

The reason why you make those soul-level agreements to meet up is because you want to exchange energy and teach each other a little something through your interaction, at a specific time in your life, or for a more prolonged period.

All souls exchange energy with one another. You have your special, unique energies that youre exchanging in many areas of life romantically, professionally and socially. Energies that clients have been dealing in that Ive seen in the past include boldness, courage, compassion, strength, clarity, playfulness, innocence, to name a few. Most people arent conscious of what theyre actually bringing to others, but that doesnt stop them dealing in the energies that they do.

So, what happens when you keep your soul-level appointment with someone is that you two exchange energy. Maybe you teach that person something about compassion in the five minutes you spend together. It can happen so indirectly and subtly maybe through something you say, maybe through your manner. Just by being you.

And perhaps in your encounter they teach you something about playfulness and being carefree that takes your life or even just your mood in a different direction. You may remember the encounter for many years and it feels like a charged event because you REALLY needed and wanted that type of energy they showed up to give you (or should we say, that type of energy they showed up to AWAKEN in you.)

So, often when you have a strong connection like that with someone in person, whether its short-lived or long-lasting, you will have set up an appointment to meet up in this life and impact one another in a certain way. And that strong connection/feeling of recognition reflects that fact.

I'm not sure what happened that got me thinking about it, but at some point either I thought of it or it was suggested to me that soul agreements don't always get fulfilled. Unfulfilled soul agreements can leave us feeling, well, like there's something unfinished. It's sort of like whenwe go to the grocery store and can't quite remember what it was thatwe were supposed to remember to get, but totally on an unconscious, soul level. Quite simply, releasing ourselves from unfulfilled and obsoletesoul agreements can feel great.

Clearing Meditation

If you're ready to release your attachment to ALL of your unfulfilled and obsoletesoul agreements - whether these were agreements that were unfulfilled by your choice, the other party's, or by circumstances outside of either of your control- here is a meditation that will walk you through the process.

  1. Go to your meditational space. Make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable and will not be disturbed for at least an hour.
  2. Declare your intention for your meditation. I suggest something like, "My purpose in this meditation is to release myself from allunfulfilled, obsoletesoul agreements. I ask for the presence of only my highest and best guidance to help me with the process." Or something like that. I don't know if you can release yourself from current and future soul agreements. You probably can, but that's not the purpose of this particular meditation.
  3. Begin in your no-thought state.
  4. Imagine a tiny pinpoint of light floating in front of you. It's so tiny, but burns so brightly, like a miniature sun. See it floating there in front of you. As you think about your intention, see the pinpoint of light float toward you, entering your body in the middle of your throat chakra. Your throat chakra is the place in your energetic body where soul agreements are formed.
  5. The tiny point of light feels great on your throat, like a drink of cool water.Think again about your intention, and feel thepoint of lightslides down, its coolness coming to rest in your solar plexus chakra. The solar plexus chakra is the place in your energetic body where soul agreements are kept.
  6. Strongly focus on yourintention, which is to release all obsolete soul agreements. Feel thetiny point of light begin to expand, as though it is absorbing all of the agreements that went unfulfilled. It seems like a tiny celestial vacuum cleaner, sucking up all of the ways that you are connected to things that you agreed to that didn't happen and can't happen.
  7. When the point of light stops expanding, focus your attention on it.Think about what it means, about all of the agreements that you were paying unconscious attention to. Think about how great it will feel to be rid of this weight, these ties to impossibilities. Say, either strongly in your mind or out loud,"I release myself from all obsolete soul agreements!" As soon as you say it, feel the ball of light suddenly dropping away, becoming one with the earth.
  8. Take a few minutes to feel what it feels like to be free of all of these unkept soul-level agreements. Slowly return to normal waking awareness.

That's it! I hope that it's helpful to you.

Why can't I send EC email?

By Amaya, 2011-06-07

Repost of an old blog because someone else was having problems with the same thing... It appears that Internet Explorer 9 doesn't play nice with Ning communities. See the comments section for a link that describes the problem.

Hi there!

I heard from someone else that she was having trouble sending email here on EC, and now I seem to be having the same difficulty. Can any of you help me figure out what's going on? I haven't been able to send mail for a few days, although I can receive mail just fine, and apparently I can post blog entries. I think it might have to do with a recent upgrade to IE9, although I'm fairly certain that the problem started before that.

Any technical insight you all can provide would be much appreciated!

I tend to think of psychic readings in terms of intention, structure, and process. The psychic sets an intention for the reading, utilizes a particular reading structure for thetype of information being sought, and employs psychic tools in a specificprocess. In this blog entry, I'll discuss the intention and structure parts of the psychic reading.

Setting Intention

I first learned about setting intention from my mentor. I sort of understood why she did it, but it felt to me like it was hokey and probably unnecessary. However, I ignored my inner nay-sayer and always did the intention-setting, or "invocation" as I like to think of it, before every reading anyway. It's only been in the last year or two that I have come to reallyunderstand the purpose of this step in the reading process.

As I see it, the purpose of this step is two-fold. First, the intention-setting action announces to your brain that you're about to do a reading. Doing it the same way every time develops a behavioral triggerbetween something that is easy to control - making a decision and saying some words - and something that is harder to control, the sometimes-elusive "psychic receptive state".

The second reason for the intention-setting action is that it tells the universe what you want. Remember, the answers you get are only as good as the questions you ask. If you're not sure what the reading is supposed to be about, you'll be less able to effectively interpret the information that you receive. We'll discuss how to askeffective questions in a later exercise, but let's call this step the "master question", the question that will guide and drive the reading.

Youwill create your own invocation, but if you'd like some ideas, mine typically contains a few standard items. I usually ask for the presence of only my highest and best guidance, and only the highest and best guidance of the person for whom I'm doing the reading. I generally ask to be a clear channel for the information that the readee would like to receive. Ioften ask for the ability to convey the information in a way that is consistent with the highest and best good of all involved. I then explain what the readee would like to know about, and start the reading. I say all of these things aloud. If, for whatever reason, it's not possible to say these items aloud, I use very focused thought to achieve the same thing.

At the end of the reading, I close the reading by thanking everyone - readee and guidance - for being with us then and always, and give thanks for the information that was received.

Deciding on Structure

There are several different ways to structure a reading, and the choice of which structure to use will depend upon the purpose of the reading- the question being asked - and the particular skills of the reader.Sometimes during the course of the reading, it will become apparent that a different structureor combination of structures would produce better results, and a switch is required. Below, I'll describe the most common structures that are used in readings. There are plenty more, of course, and I'm not including any of what I consider to be the "healing" structures, such as shamanic readings and such, although they also are part of the menu of structures available to one who knows how to use them. As you learn more about and developyour particular skills, youmight create your own unique structures that work better for you, which is great.

  1. Tool-Based Reading - This reading structure uses one or more divination tools, such as tarot cards, I Ching, astrology, answer the readee's question. This structure can be used by itself or in combination with others.
  2. Classic Clairvoyance - This type of reading generally relies on a mental receiving device, such as a screen that lives inside the mind, on which the answers to the readee's questions appear in a visual format and are interpreted by the reader. See this entryto refresh your memory onhow this works. This is theusualstructure for remote viewing, butreaders that are proficient with clairvoyance use it for other things as well.
  3. Akashic Records - As described in a different section, the reader can visit the Akashic Records to answer questions for the readee. This structure is particularly good for questions dealing with life path, fate, destiny, relationships, and past lives.
  4. Past Lives - As described in a different section, the reader can travel into the past life of the readee in order to retrieve lost soul aspects. You might try this for situations in which the readee seems to be "stuck in a loop", is repeating unhelpful patterns of behavior, has become overly emotionally attached or repelled by a particular person or situation, orseems to beconstantlyseeking something that they're not finding.
  5. Mediumship -In thisstructure, the reader communicates with non-physical beings in order to answer the readee's question. My personal preference for most readings is to use this structure, and to work with the readee's spirit guidesdirectly. The particular elements of my invocation that address "guidance" set up this type of structure. This category also includes communication with deceased loved ones, "ghosts" and other lower astral entities, elemental beings, lower- and higher-astral aliens, gods and goddesses, angels, ascended masters, and all other similar beings described with different names. This method seems to be especially well-received when the readee seems confused, lonely, down on themselves, or not sure about what direction they should be goingin (in other words, practically everyone!).

I stopped at five main types of reading structures, but I'd love to hear from the group if there'sanother obvious one that I've missed or if you've discovered a structure that works especially well for you that I didn't mention.

Your Psychic Toolbox

By Amaya, 2011-04-17

Note: This blog entry is part of a series on psychic development. Find the index for the series here.

Most psychics employ a variety of skills/abilities when doing a reading. In this blog entry, I'll describe the most common psychic abilities and how they are used to receive psychic information.

Divination Tools

In this category, I place anything that a psychic uses thatexists physically outside of the body. The most common divination tools used by psychics include tarot or oracle cards, runes, I Ching, pendulums, dousing rods, palmistry, astrology, and some others that aren't coming to mind right now. Basically, I considerany knowledge-gathering technique that relies on something external to the person performing the reading to be under the general heading of "divination tool". I don't include crystal balls or other types of scrying equipment in this category, because their function is to assist the reader in achieving a meditational, psychically-receptive state, not to augment the psychic's knowledge in some way.

My opinion on divination tools is that a real psychic doesn't need props. However, all of the psychics I've ever met possess one or more tools like this, including me. In my opinion, these types of tools can be useful in some cases. I have been reading tarot for about 16 years, and I quite like the way that it helps to narrow a broad topic, or tocut through the confusion of the person requesting the reading so that we can both be in agreement about what the most important issue is. I also like the neutrality of tarot when I read for people that I know very well, especially in situations in which I already have strong opinions on the matter. Other divination tools withspecific interpretation systemswork the same way.

Clear Sight - Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance is the ability to receive psychic information in a visual format. In her book Extraordinary Psychic, Debra Lynn Katz writes that clairvoyance is the least common of the "clair" abilities. I don't know that I necessarily agree with her on that, but I do think that it's what people automatically think of when they think of what a psychic is and does. In reality, I would be willing to say that all psychics use more than one "clair" ability during a reading. Seeing pictures, hearing sounds or words, feeling emotions, and knowing information all at once is the typical way that I think most readings go. The visualization exercises in section 3.2 help you to understand what it feels like towork withvisual information that isn't coming from your eyeballs.

Clear Hearing - Clairaudience

Did you know that in addition to a "third eye", there is also a "third ear"? Clairaudience, or clear hearing, is receiving psychic information in an auditory format. For me, in readings I will sometimeshear music or musical tones, hear words or sentences (or long lectures), or hear things that I can't really explain - sort of like pure knowledge leaking in through my ears. In past life readings, I'll often hear all of the environmental sounds as I would have if I were actually there. With this ability, as with clairvoyance, I think it's important to note that I'm not actually hearing anything - nothing that I would confuse for reality, anyway. It's difficult to explain, but I want toallay the fears of anyone that might be afraid of awakening this ability, because there is absolutely no way that clairaudience can be confused for, for example, someone calling your name in real life. People who cannot tell the difference between "the voices" and real life are schizoprenic, not psychic. Developing your psychic ability will not cause you to become schizoprenic.

Clear Feeling - Clairsentience

The empathic gift is often placed in the same category as clairsentience. I'm not totally convinced that they're the same thing, but they often go together. Clairsentience is basically the ability to perceive "the vibration" of another person or thing. Psychics who focus on physical maladies, such as medical intuitives and energy healers, areusually using this as their primary psychic ability. As an empath, this psychic ability may turn out to be your strongest. It certainly is for me, along with claircognizance. To further confuse things, psychometry - the ability to receive information by holding an object - is also included in this category.

Clear Knowing - Claircognizance

In a reading situation, it can be hard to separate out the effect of claircognizance from the other psychic abilities. Clear knowing is really nothing more than old-fashioned intuition - the sudden and unexplainable knowing of information. The exercises in section 2.2 - Going with Your Gut and The Walk Sign Game - were working with this particular psychic ability specifically. For me, the hardest part about working with claircognizance is that it's the easiest place for the ego to step in and start mucking up the accuracy of the information. All of that other stuff in section 2 was meant to strengthen the ability to shut the ego down and let information flow freely.

The other Clairs - Smell (Clairalience) and Taste (Clairgustance)

Clear smelling and clear tasting? Yes! They do come up sometimes. For me, they seem to show up especially in past life readings or with spirit guides. Also, for me, my clairs sometimes have strange overlaps, like I'll hear light or see emotions. For example, when I'm holding a chunk of carnelian, I get sort of an ashy taste in my mouth, and that tells me that carnelian has an affinity with the properties of the element fire. I don't know that there's much benefit to purposely developing these particular abilities, but I certainly enjoy them when they show up.

Mediumistic Channeling

A medium is a psychic person that communicates with non-physical beings. There are actually a couple of different kinds of channeling, but for the purposes of this discussion, I'm talking about the type of trance channeling in which a psychic allows the consciousness of a non-physicalbeing to take over their body and communicate through them. Automatic writing is a variant of this ability, in which the psychic person allows another being to use only their hand(s) in order to communicate through the written word. Ihave donesome spirit guide readings sort of on the edge of trance channeling, using automatic writing, and it can be both fun and educational at times. There are some for whom this type of thing comes easily, and while I'm not advocating against it, I do advise caution. As you grow in your psychic ability over time, you'll be better able to discern the type of being that you're working with andmake good decisions relative to whether or not a particularbeing's consciousness really belongs in your body.

Body-Mind Energy Medicine

By Amaya, 2011-03-14

Note: This blog entry is part of a series on psychic development. Find the index for the series here.

The foundationalprinciple of this workshop is that the body, mind, and spirit are connected in a complex relationship. If one is out of balance, the other two will become imbalanced also. The development of psychic ability is often approached as purely a mental exercise, which I think leaves out the very important contribution of our other systems.

In my experience, systems of healing that seek to treat a person in a holistic way, by treating the body, mind, and spirit together, are the most effective. I find that my body/mind/spirit picks up all kinds of junk, whether it's because I'm an empath or just human, and I've found that certain energy-medicine modalities really help me to maintain my balance. My personal regimen for the last 5+ years has beenmonthlyFive Element Acupuncture treatments, interspersed with naturopathic consultations for my food allergies. A few days ago, I had my first Zero Balancing treatment, and I loved it!

If you have the time, money, and interest, here are some energy-healing modalities that you might consider looking into:

Five Element Acupuncture

Five Element Acupuncture is a specific discipline within the larger practice of acupuncture, and while it focuses on physical dis-ease and symptoms, it has an amazing ability to get at emotional and spiritual blocks and dis-ease also. It can be a little painful at times (the release of chi in the meridian points can beexplosive on some people, like me), so it's definitelynot for kids. A list of practitioners can be found at the link above. My practictioner is not listed, although her mentor is. If there isn'ta memberlistedfor your area, try contacting the closest one. It's a small community, so he/she would probably know if there is someone closer to you that might not be on the list.

Zero Balancing

Unlike acupuncture, Zero Balancing is done while fully clothed. The pressure points that are used feel a lot like a shiatsu massage, which is to say that it is strong pressure, but not painful. I'm still amazed at the amount of emotional stuff that I released after just one session (an introductory series of three sessions one week apart is recommended), not to mention how great my body feels. It's like the best deep tissue massage you've ever had, but without all of the rubbing and kneading. A list of practitioners is available at the link above.

Okay, hate me if you want to, but I'm not a big fan of reiki. It's my opinion that some people are born with a gift for healing people through a "laying on of hands" type of technique, and for these few, reiki can provide a useful framework for understanding and using their gift successfully. However, it's my opinion that many of those that have been officially trained and degreed in reiki aren't effective. I've had my body worked on by three people that actually were effective energy healers, and only one (a massage therapist and empath) had ever had the least bit of training in reiki. So, I like energy healers. Just make sure you have a good one. Ask for referrals from people you trust. Read reviews or testimonials online. If you leave an appointment unsure of whether your session with an energy healer was effective, it wasn't. Keep looking!

Hatha Yoga

It's not medicine, but it does serve to strengthen the mind-body connection. Wikipedia says, "Hatha yoga attempts to balance mind and body via physical postures or 'asanas', purification practices, controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation." Yoga brings flexibility to the strong, and strength to the flexible. It requires the body and mind to work together to perform the postures, whichincreases and improvesintegration between the two, and creates space for the processing of emotional and spiritual issues. If you already belong to a gym, give the yoga class a try. I've found that the quality of instruction varies a lot from location to location, and from one instructor to another, so if you don't like the first class you try, find another. Try to take at least four classes before you make a decision on whether it's for you or not.

Thanks for reading my soapboxspeech on mind-body healing today! If you have any suggestions or testimonials that you'd like to provide, please do so in the comments.

In the same way that the root chakraconnects our bodies with the powerful manifestational energy of the earth, thecrown chakra connects our bodies with the trancendental consciousness of the heavens. A blocked crown chakra can leave us with a lack of clear direction for our lives anda lack of understanding of where and how we fit into the universe. An open and connected crown chakra assists us in seeing the bigger picture, in understanding theweb of life, the flow of time, and the meaning of it all.

The key to crown chakra activation is no-thought meditation. Here's a written meditation that I like that bridges the gap between thought and the no-thought meditational state (Judith, p. 341):

Lie or sit in a comfortable meditation position. Allow your mind to become relatively calm and quiet, using whatever technique is most effective for you.

Gradually let yourself pay attention to the thoughts that pass through your mind. Pick one and ask yourself where it came from, what thoughts preceded it. Then follow to the origin of that thought. It may be something that occurred years ago, or something that is pressing on your right now. Then again follow that thought to its source, and on to each thought's origin. Eventually we come to a kind of infinite source that has no objective origin.

Return and pick another thought that passes through. Repeat the same sequence, going further and further back. See how many of your thoughts emanate from a similar source--either an issue that you are working with in your life right now, a past teacher, or your own place of connection with the infinite.

After followinga fewthoughts to their origin, begin watching your thoughts go by without tracing them. Simply let them pass, neither denying them nor retaining them. Let them return to their source until there are few or no thoughts passing through, and you too have returned to that source. Remain there as long as seems appropriate, and return slowly to normal consciousness.

Here is theTibetan bowl/solfeggio frequency video for the crown chakra.Thefrequency for the crown chakra is quite high and can bea little screechy, so turnthevolume down a bit if it grates on your nerves too much, or try thenext video, which features abowl made of crystal instead.

Same idea, using a crystal bowl:

A Note on Intense Crown Chakra Activation

When all of the chakras are clear and balanced, and especially if you use the suggestion I madeto have an upwardly-flowing grounding cord with a downwardly-directed flow of celestial energy, you may experience intense activation in the crown chakra. Some people might call this a "kundalini experience",although I'm not quite ready to call it that at this point. In any case, the experience is one ofecstatic bliss, but itcan feel a little like the top of your head has exploded. That, as well as other random physical reactions that you might have during an intense activation, such as twitching, spontaneous crying, feeling hot or cold, or feeling like you've lost track of your body altogether, can cause a fear reaction. I'm mentioning it now so that if it does happen, you know that it's normal and nothing to be concerned about. Do your best to enjoy the moment, and work through any residual blocks or fears by focusing your attention on your breath and by breathing calm, controlled way. Let yourself sink into the bliss, slowly becoming one with it. If it's too much, know that you can simply stop the meditation at any point.

After an intense crown chakra activation, practice increased self-care for a whileby focusing on journalingfor longer periodsand more often, and by paying increased attention to eating healthfully, exercising regularly (especially gentle forms of exercise, such as walking and yoga), and getting plenty of sleep. You may find that you are not as interested in meditating for a while afterward, which is fine. Trust your instincts, and return to meditation when you feel ready.

Good news! Almost all of the exercises in the "mind" section of this workshopact to open and clarify the third eye chakra, especially the visualization exercises. If you'd like some extra exercises and meditations, this blog post has a few suggestions.

First, try watching and listening to the video below. As with all of these Tibetan bowl/solfeggio frequency videos, listen to it without headphones. The sound waves themselves act to clear and harmonize.

Tryan exercise thatI adapted from Debra Lynn Katz's book Extraordinary Psychic: After you've done the clearing meditation and you are grounded and centered in a relaxed, meditational state, imagine that the inside of your skull is a movie theater. The movie screen is located just behind your third eye, on the inside of your skull, between your two physical eyes. Imagine that you are sitting in a chair in the middle of the theater. When you're ready to receive psychic information about a topic that you have firmly in your mind, you will openyour third eye,a dark blueeye-shaped opening behind the screen. After you open this blue"curtain", the movie enters through the eye-shaped opening in your forehead, and the images appear on the screen just inside your forehead. The movie's sounds are loud and clear to you, just as they are in a surround-sound theater. You can ask the movie questions, and move the pictures around with your hands. When you're done with the movie, close the curtain, and gently return to waking awareness.

This fun exercise, called "Photo Blink",is a simple way to get a sense of someone's aura if you normally don't see auras. It also helps to improve visual observation. The exercise appears in the book Wheels of Life: A User's Guide to the Chakra System by Anodea Judith, Ph.D. (p. 308-309)

Place the person you want to look at directly opposite you, about six to ten feet away. Close your eyes and clear your mental screen. Wait until you feel grounded and centered, with no particular thoughts or images running through your mind.

Very quickly open and close your eyes once--the opposite of a blink--so that you get only a quick glimpse of the person in front of you, making a sort of frozen "photographic" image imprinted in your mind. Hold that image and examine it. What characteristics do you notice? Do you see an afterimage or a glow around the body? Do certain colors or body positions stand out? As the image fades, quickly open and close your eyes again to strengthen it. See how much detail you can decipher in this "afterimage". Which parts fade first, and which characteristics linger? All these things tell you about the strengths and weaknesses of that person's aura.
